amy's place is the best local breakfast value in the city...like you, i'm not a sweets person, especially at breakfast; just looking at the “L.A.” Cinnamon Toast hurts my teeth and brings on a sugar rush, but i'm sure my daughter would love it, i can hear her now, "extra syrup - on the side, please"
The eggplant dip with pita is phenomonal but my absolute favorite is the make your own pancakes. I get mine with bananas and chocolate chips. I don't know what they're putting in they're pancakes, but they are a whole lot better than any I could make. I like the varied tables and cups, I like how they play music, and I enjoy the eclectic make up of the patrons. But most of all I like the gammut of choices on the menu. And the pancakes.
I forgot- Remember to bring CASH, as they don't take credit. But its super cheap ;)
I was discussing favorite Amy's dishes with two UB librarians recently; both love the wheatberry sandwich. I've never tried it, but on my last visit I had a fantastic vegetarian wrap that included french fries and hot sauce.
