anyone remember a late 1970s vintage novel titled ECOTOPIA?

In it, California, Washington and Oregon seceded from the US union and established an ecologically / politically / economically balanced society. One of the features of that society was a community bicycle program such as enacted here.

Out of curiousity, how many other communities have a program like this? It is a great program! Maybe someday Buffalo will have the next step- a car share program. I know, dreaming. It's hard to survive without a car in Bflo of one's own.

Making bike riding "cool" is a great service in such a poor city.

I hope you folks are making progress getting bus racks on buses. For several years I biked EVERYWHERE in Bflo, but too often the weather intimidated me into staying home.

Here in Mpls ALL buses have bike racks. That makes biking so much easier, especailly when bad weather looms on one end of a trip. And now being officially "old", I can ride one way to or from downtown (about 4 miles) during non-rush hours for 50 cents. That makes for good (cheap) exercise . . without having to become too fit!

Keep pluggin! Your are providing an invaluable service!
