This is a cool idea and all, but is it really the best idea to hold an art and craft fair on the same day/time as the Allentown Art Fest. I think the majority of the art going public will be on the other side of town in Allentown. It's almost not fair to the people who are going to display art at this.

What a wonderful day to kick off the Amherst Street Artisan Marketplace. The much awaited 11th Rediscover Amherst Street Festival & the wildly popular St. John's Strawberry Festival welcomes the Artist Marketplace. The organizers have planned this Marketplace to be a weekly event during the summer months. In addition, the Sportsmen's Tavern are holding their first "Rock the Lot", an all day family friendly music event, featuring some of Buffalos finest musicians. The street will be alive and offers an alternative to the Allentown event. This festival is not ment to compete with the Art Fest. This is clearly a Black Rock event. The heart of this event is located in the center of Downtown Black Rock, but includes the historic neighborhoods of both Upper & Lower Rock. The day will also include the much awaited yearly Tee Shirt, designed by our friends at Planet Love and the introduction of the first of many Historic Black Rock postcards. The Grant Amherst Business Association has been putting together a collection of amazing photographs, documenting & illuminating the history of their area. The introduction and first sale of these important postcards will be at the Rediscover Amherst Street Festival.

I miss Frenchy's impromptu art gallery and the parade of characters. And you can never have enough street festivals espically in such a diverse and interesting neighborhood as Amherst St. I wish I could move you all here and help to revitalize this neck of the woods.
