Well, the Thursday at the Square schedule has just been released... as a matter of fact it was little more than an hour ago that the announcement was made. Steven Joseph, Manager of Marketing, Buffalo Place, did the honors, and rightly so since he is the guy that spends (along with the rest of the BP administration) so much time wrangling the acts together. "I pulled the last act in seven hours ago," Steve told me. "I thought we had it all set three days ago... then we got a couple last minute call-ins and had to scramble. There's so much competition for booking these acts, but Thursday at the Square has made a name for itself so there are a lot of bands that want to play and will remember Buffalo when scheduling their summer tours. Thursday at the Square brings tens of thousands of people downtown, and the spinoff generates four and a half million dollars of economic impact, 3.2 million of that directly impacts the downtown core."
Two more dates have been added to make it a 15 week performance series this summer. That means that the economic stats will continue to impact the city as the performances last later on in the season. It's time to party in downtown Buffalo thanks to Buffalo Place and the people that stick around to enjoy the acts week after week!
