Wednesday’s ‘Euro’ Car Show on Elmwood Avenue turned out to be one of the more interesting events of the summer. Though people have talked about hosting this type of draw to the street for years, the timing and site location could not have been better. The combination of promoting storefronts, mixed in with some unusual support structure, made for an inspiring first-time event.
Of course the cars (mostly Euro) were the main draw. But no one expected a DJ to be set up on top of the Elmwood Square Apartments (see photo). As music was piped down onto the street below, scooters arrived to fill in spaces fronting the new Bank of America. Across the street, NEO Gift Shop set up café tables in front of their building while Lu Modern anchored spectators with offerings of drink and food.

I would think that the event, sponsored by the Elmwood Village Association, would take place at least twice a year. The street traffic continued to flow while sidewalk activities kept people eating, drinking and shopping well into the evening. The business owners were pleased with the result and auto fans got their fixes of seeing some real beauties out on Elmwood.
