Native Offerings - A Healthy Food Alternative

Native Offerings - A Healthy Food Alternative

If you're into healthy eating and locally produced naturally grown foods, then you must learn more about Native Offerings. I first found out about the food share business when I saw Native Offerings set up outside the Lexington Co-op a couple of years ago. I've also seen them at the Bidwell Market on Saturdays. Just last Thursday I saw their tables set up outside of Lafayette Church (Lafayette entrance). It was so cool. They had hung their weighing scales from the street lampposts and people were walking over and filling the scales with produce.

Back in September of '07 Courtney ran a post on Native Offerings's farm. If you're not familiar with CSAs, then you may want to study up on those type of cooperative business structure. In order to pick up any produce (every Thursday) from Native Offerings, a customer must first purchase a share of food. At different times of the year a customer may purchase a share (or shares), which will allow him or her to swing by to pick up allotments on a weekly basis. Each week the offerings are different. And on Tuesdays the different varieties (for that week) are posted on the Native Offering website. The site also posts healthy recipes made with that week's produce - meats, veggies and fruits. That makes planning ahead a dream. There are different seasons to try, and different reasons to sign up. Native Offerings is just another way to get the healthy stuff you need on a regular basis. It's also nice to be able to show up and pick up healthy food that has been paid for ahead of time.
