Taking Care Of Beach Business

Like clockwork, the new Erie Basin Marina Beach opened just moments ago... just in time for Memorial Day. Thanks to the hard work of Mayor Brown, Congressman Brian Higgins, Councilman Brian Davis, First Deputy Mayor Steve Casey and members of the Erie Basin Advisory Group, people can now walk down to the water's edge and relax in some decent sand. Not only is there a beach at the marina, there is also the beginnings of a boardwalk where parents with strollers and young children will be able to look down upon the action. The wooden boardwalk will soon extend out over the rocky point where there will be an area for people sit and relax.

This beach project was fairly inexpensive. It was also done in a timely manner. City officials praised the work of Steve Casey who was determined more than anyone to see the project finished. Some people have even lightheartedly referred to the beach as Casey Beach. Next week the Erie Basin Advisory Group will be presenting The Mayor with a full analysis of similar high-impact marina projects that will continue to bring visitors down to the marina.

Once again, special thanks to Councilman Brian Davis for bringing the proposal to The Mayor's attention. It was not long ago when the beach looked like this.
