Tucker Looks To Create A Winter Destination

While attending the waterfront BoomDays event last evening, I ran into Dug's Dive Restaurant owner, Tucker Curtain. Tucker told me that this was hopefully going to be the last time Buffalonians would be activity-less at this part of the Outer Harbor during the wintertime. "I'm planning on turning this part of the lake intto a destination area for winter activities," he told me. "I want this to be a place where people will come to skate, ice boat and curl. I've already been looking into insurance and permits, and if all goes well this will be a fun place to be all year 'round."

The fact that Tucker opened up Dug's Dive for BoomDays activities is just the start of his push to bring people to the lake during the colder season. BoomDays, an event that grows bigger and bigger every year, already draws people to the restaurant for, shall we say, celebratory reasons. Why not celebrate every weekend? Or every day for that matter? If you offer all of these activities and give people a place to warm up, eat food, and drink... duh?

And if you incorporate ice boating, then you've brought a spectator event to the waterfront as well. People have been iceboating on the Canadian side for years.
