2 for the Zoo

Chocolate lovers, animal lovers and history lovers alike will delight in the 5th Annual Fowler’s Factory Tour. Get the chance to tour Buffalo’s oldest chocolate shop while supporting the Buffalo Zoo. On Saturday, October 11th and Monday, October 13th visitors can tour the chocolatier and get a sneak peek at candies for Sweetest Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas at Fowler’s on 100 River Rock Drive in Buffalo.
For a mere $2 (all proceeds will be donated to the Zoo), visitors can go behind-the-scenes at the factory and observe all phases of candy-making. From sponge candy to candy suckers, watch delicious treats being drenched in chocolate, the old fashioned art of hand dipping chocolate and state of the art candy molding. Be one of the first to see what new candies are being made for the fall holiday season.
“Fowler’s customers are a generous group; they are the ones making the contributions. Fowler’s and these tours are just the conduit that brings financial support to the chosen organization,” said Fowler’s President, Ted Marks.
In the last five years, this event has raised more than $6,500 for area not-for-profit enterprises. Past recipients include: Friends of Night People; Homespace Corporation; Literacy Volunteers; and the Frank Lloyd Wright Rowing Boathouse.
Buffalo Zoo President/CEO, Dr. Donna M. Fernandes, said, “Both Fowler’s and the Buffalo Zoo are dedicated to providing fun and educational experiences for families. These tours certainly support not only that mission but also give back to the community. We are truly grateful for the generous support of Fowler’s Chocolates and its customers.”
Tickets are available at all Fowler’s locations in Buffalo and Rochester. Five one-hour tours will be offered each day. The first tour will begin at 9:00 a.m., and the last tour will start at 2:00 p.m. There is a limit of 250 tickets sold per tour. For more information, please call Fowler’s Chocolates President, Ted Marks, at (716) 877-9983.

As we mentioned in our previous post, we’re in the process of changing the Buffalo Rising site. We’re almost there as we expect to launch the new site on Friday, December 19th.
In the meantime, posting will be light as we log new stories in the new publishing system which will only be viewable when we launch on Friday.
As always, we appreciate our users’ patience as we make this transition but we promise it will be well worth it. With faster load times, a comment view …
