It's what Captain America (see his t-shirt) would do... or stands for… the ability for anyone to start off an enterprising business to fill a niche. Bring ice cream to the people on a sultry summer evening. Create a bicycle with an ice cream cart attached to it. Exercise and make money at the same time. These are all the great things about being your own boss and a creative entrepreneur.
For three days in a row I have seen this guy cruising around the city. Each time I was late for an appointment and saw him disappear in my rear view mirror. Last night I finally caught up with him and asked about the cart. Hey, if you can start a good business with a semi-stationary hotdog cart, why not a roaming 'Creamcycle'. The ice cream is kept cold by an ingenious feature, and the selections range from... well, check out the video... and be sure to support James as he cycles around the city delivering cold treats this summer.

As we mentioned in our previous post, we’re in the process of changing the Buffalo Rising site. We’re almost there as we expect to launch the new site on Friday, December 19th.
In the meantime, posting will be light as we log new stories in the new publishing system which will only be viewable when we launch on Friday.
As always, we appreciate our users’ patience as we make this transition but we promise it will be well worth it. With faster load times, a comment view …

I'm sure the city will find a way to smother his entrepreneurial spirit. The last thing we need are rogue ice cream salesmen peddling our streets seeking out sweaty people. It's a quality of life issue! The Brown administration will waste no time in making an example of this unregulated capitalist, if the unions don't break his legs first.

while i do sense your sarcasm, i'd like to point out that this is a completely legit and legal operation. All permits have been issued and other legal obligations have been met. I would only ever run my business with complete integrity and honesty.
Thanks much for the article and video, i'm definitely elated.
Time to go ride now, see ya!

If he doesn't have the required & sometimes expensive permits, the authorities will eventually catch up to him, so support him while you can! Check out "Olmsted Park Concession Request for Bids - 2007", for instance:

I wonder if he would be able to go out and sell at the Erie Basin Marina. I was there today and there were tons of people walking around.

Kudos to you icecreamdude! I'm a Buffalo native who's moving back next month but here in LA, vendors like you are everywhere and pretty popular. I wish you much success!

icecreamdude came through our flea market yesterday and was a hit with the neoghbors. Great bells - much better than that annoying chime system on those old trucks that roll through. PLEASE, take the suggestions to heart and return during evening hours any night of the week. The adults in the West Village area want your wares!
