City Hall Snow Globe Shines

City Hall Snow Globe Shines

Story Options

A couple of weeks ago, Elena posted on the City Hall snow globes that were hitting the local market... and today I got a chance to see one up close. It's pretty cool to see a globe with a Buffalo building in it. I've seen versions in cities all over the country, featuring all sorts of different miniatures. It's about time that this city got some featuring its own landmarks. This morning I happened upon this one at Lu Modern Classics, though I know that The Floristry was the original shop where people began to place orders.

One feature that I was not aware of was the globe's ability to light up. That additional selling point makes the gift even that much more enjoyable. Plus, these are limited - only 300 are being made per landmark. I might also pass along that the globe that I spotted at Lu Modern Classics was selling for $49.95. That's not a bad price for a limited edition electric model. The City Hall style ornamentation surrounding the base is also pretty and sure beats the black plastic bases that normally come with snow globes.

Actually, with it's base the snow globe stands about 7" tall , includes 3 AAA replaceable batteries. It can be ordered by phone from the Floristry, Lou's Modern Classics and by e-mail from www.avalonscarves.com

I ordered mine as soon as I read about it, and now I hear they are almost sold out. I think it's a great idea. I can't wait to hear what they do next.

I just ordered 2 a few days ago.

The latest shipment just came in this weekend.

Evidently you can still order some - I did mine by phone thru the florist - they created the globes - the website doesn't work.

The creators plan to do a new one every year of a different landmark - they say the response has been overwhelming.

They only do Buffalo structures (they are a buffalo company).

So far ideas for the next ones are the Buffalo Botanical Garden Greenhouse, Central Terminal, the Electric Buliding and Richardson Towers.

They've had requests for the DWMartin house - but say it would be too difficult to model and aren't sure of the licensing rights, etc.

But they only intend to do one a year...so be patient if your ideal choice isn't this or next year's models.

Woooo! I got one! One in only 300 people in the world! ha, so WHEN is the NEXT one COMING OUT!!!!!????? IT's been months! Goodness, i want to collect all the ones they make of Buffalo! Garranty Building, Liberty Building, Kleinhans, maybe even the Statler Towers or my Buffalo favorite, the Rand Building. So many indeed, I am becoming impatient and anxious to get a hold of a Buffalo Snow Globe light up collection!!
