Got Goggles?

Story Options

You have to hand it to Mike Rizzo, owner and operator of Zippy Bike Messenger Service. On a day where school kids stayed home due to the chilly winter weather, Mike spent the day delivering packages around the city. "I don't even look at the weather forecast before I leave the house... it doesn't matter. I go to work under all weather conditions." That's probably a good policy to have when you consider that downtown businesses depend on Mike for getting their deliveries from one office building to another. He even hits places like the Larkin District where he services businesses like Uncle Sam's Army Navy Store (the country's largest).

Today was no different than any other day for the owner/rider of Zippy Delivery. I passed him on the way to work as he bolted across the Elmwood/Allen intersection, and caught up with him later in the day as he headed into the Buffalo Niagara Enterprise building. It was then that I noticed that he had a pair of heavy-duty goggles draped around his neck (for snowy conditions). As he pulled up to the building everyone inside practically saluted him. Mike's been at it for a while, and his 100% determination should be enough for any business owner to consider his services. Zippy Delivery has got to be one of the city's most appreciated and progressive lines of work. For information on how to obtain Mike's services, just click here.

Cyclists: note the helmet. If you're smart enough to ride a bike, you're smart enough to wear a helmet. It is WAY cheaper than a traumatic brain injury.

Drivers: not only do people bike to go from here to there, just as people drive to go from here to there, they bike to earn a living. So PLEASE stop yelling at us to get out of the street. We have as much legal right as you do to be there.
