Howie Greene Keeps Tabs On Buffalo's Politicos
Howie Greene, Top NY News Examiner for www.examiner.com and Buffalo State College graduate, sent along his latest column that showcases politicians who, in their previous lives, were 'celebrities'. As Howie puts it, "Now for some reason Buffalo, NY has sent an inordinate number of former athletes to elective office." Here's his list from the piece in the Examiner:
Jack Kemp - former star QB for your Buffalo Bills; served as a Western NY Congressman, ran for President; ran for Vice President with Bob Dole. Made "supply-side economics" famous. Had the hair thing going on WAY before Gov. Blogo
Anthony Masiello - former Buffalo Mayor and State Senator; played one season with the Indiana Pacers
Billy Stachowski - South Buffalo State Senator; big star at Holy Cross College; also makes a mean kielbasa on Dingus Day
Joe Mesi - Boxer turned politician. Was K-O'd last month in his run for State Senate
Earlier this month, Howie forwarded us another interesting column that he drafted for the Huffington Post where another Buffalo politician landed on an even more distinctive list.
Apparently Howie Greene, a self professed Buffalo booster, likes to keep tabs on the local political arena (past and present).

My Favorite Buildings
This house on Richmond Avenue is very unusual for Buffalo. It stands out among its wooden neighbors not only in material but also in detail and form. Buffalo is overwhelmingly constructed of wood with brick coming in a distant second as a material. Stone houses are very rare. Also rare is the Palazzo styling and shape of this house. The Wait is Almost Over - BR's New Site

Bill Stachowski has accomplished nothing for south buffalo and has such a LOW profile most people dont even know who he is, he has no record in the senate and no respect either, so little respect despite his seniority that they gave him the title of deputy (I think deputy of finance committee) which has absolutely no responsibilities at all.
Masiello talked with a slur so badly that people thought he was slow (as in special) and whose favorite expression of low hanging fruit conjured images of testacles and jock straps from his athletic days than governmental efficiency and executive management, his out of touch incompetence was so bad Im told he needed directions to his own office and needed to be introduced to his own staff and direct reports. Amazing how a 6 foot height could be maintained without a spine.....as Tony was spineless to unions, albany politicos, party dictates and the flipping/neglect that plagued the city during his tenure.
Buffalo is in the shape it is in because not a single person has dared to stand apart from unions, inside business deals, albany and party dictates....to push forward the agendas of its citizens.
Furthermore, we do not have a newspaper (Buffalo News) that even asks the questions to hold them accountable. The Buffalo News writes at a 4th grade reading level and the content is so adolescent and unresearched that it reads like a press bulletin just pulled out of the fax or email.
