The first time that I ever walked into Uncle Sam’s Army Navy Outfitters I had no idea what to expect. The exterior looked like it could be the home of a M*A*S*H unit, but since I was not an army/navy guy I was not quite sure what I would find. What would the people be like inside? A bunch of military zealots running around with crazy uniforms on?

Much to my pleasure I found, upon walking inside, a group of the funniest characters that I had ever met in Buffalo (and there are a lot of characters). The people that work at the store were not what I expected. First of all, they are totally into the Red Cross M*A*S*H BASH, and that’s because they do a big business for the event where everyone dresses up. But there's something else to it besides the commercial aspect. Even though it's a huge military store, Robert Geist, the proprietor, is a lively Buffalo enthusiast, and his enthusiasm rubs off on his employees and the shoppers.

When I showed up with my video recorder it didn't take much to get these guys going. And if you think that I called ahead to tell this gang that I was coming in, think again. It's just an average day of work at Uncle Sam’s Army Navy Outfitters. I was right about the military uniforms… I’m just glad the people inside them were so cool. Enjoy the video, and be sure to attend one of the greatest parties in the region!

For more information on the M*A*S*H BASH, or to volunteer, call the BASH headquarters at 716-878-2372 or stop by Uncle Sam’s Army Navy Outfitters at 290 Larkin Street in the Larkin Buildings. Friday, June 1st, from 7p.m. to 12 midnight.

Hi, I'm Ruth, wife of John, the Navy Seal who when asked if he goes to the Mash Bash, answered "I'm married." ok, so there are "hot women" at the Bash, but I give John permission to go. He just better behave himself! Seriously, I wish I could go, but I gotta work (sob). But it sounds like a great event! and Bob, you shouldn't let John push you around like that. (wish I could shove my boss like that and get away with it).
