Maximum Exposure

http://archive.buffalorising.com/trend/archives/upload/2006/07/maximumexposure_front1-thumb.jpg Since sometime last winter, I've been watching the Maxigumee slideshows right here on BRO. The first one I remember was a collection of trendy young people wearing darned cool clothing and posing oh so comfortably against a snowy backdrop of wrought iron fencing. The 'kids' in those pics looked so....rightfully assertive in their ability to convey something so youthfully edgy. And that's what hooked me. These were kids with confidence, with initiative, and with the ability to make it happen right here in Buffalo.

Since then, I've salivated over ever single post that included another homage to Maxigumee's work. I read his blog - insightful and well written, I forwarded his slideshows to my fashionista friends, and I wondered what he'd be up to next.

Then, as it turns out, in this wide world we know as Buffalo Rising readership, I found myself working with him. The more I interacted with him and the more of his work I experienced, the more I wanted to see him thrive and be successful both here and in other places. So now he's leaving, he's finished with high school, and he's off to NYC for college. But wait, there's more...

This Friday and Saturday, Aug 4th & 5th, from 7-10pm, there's a party - a Maximum Exposure photography show to celebrate Maxwell Tielman; his Buffalo heritage, and his future successes. If you can't make it the first night, come the next night, and if you can't make it during the evening, then come by during the day...171 Elmwood @ the new Skunktail, between North and Allen Streets.

Thank you to an amazing Buffalo community for helping to make this happen. http://archive.buffalorising.com/trend/archives/upload/2006/07/maximumexposure_back-thumb.jpg
