WJ Morrissey Irish Pub

WJ Morrissey Irish Pub is scheduled to open tomorrow (Thurs). Actually, just the bar is planning on opening (shooting for 8pm)... and then next week there will be a limited menu. Shortly afterwards the restaurant will introduce a full food offering (see continued) that will include dishes such as Shepherd's Pie, Guinness Irish Stew, All-Day Irish Breakfast and... Bangers (from Spars) and Mash!
The public got a small taste of the new restaurant's atmosphere during the weekend of St. Patty's Day. It was, however, only a quick glimpse before the doors were shut and work continued inside and outside of the establishment. Since that time the concrete sidewalk has been busted up to make room for spring plantings. New railings have been added to the patio, and faux green pillars and brick walls (more on that from Bill Z.) have been installed. The exterior windows match the Savarino building at 26 Mississippi, which brings a unified look to the street. The restaurant is still looking for a full time manager and is also looking to fill kitchen and server positions. Those interested should apply at Morrisey's (30 Mississippi between Perry and South Park) or Colter Bay (corner of Allen and Delaware).

As we mentioned in our previous post, we’re in the process of changing the Buffalo Rising site. We’re almost there as we expect to launch the new site on Friday, December 19th.
In the meantime, posting will be light as we log new stories in the new publishing system which will only be viewable when we launch on Friday.
As always, we appreciate our users’ patience as we make this transition but we promise it will be well worth it. With faster load times, a comment view …
Caroline Kennedy was in town for a visit with our mayor yesterday. A possible choice to succeed US Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Kennedy's name has been mentioned along with that of Attorney General Andrew Cuomo (son of former New York Governor Mario Cuomo) and our own Byron Brown, among others.
Certainly, Kennedy has "been around politics" all of her life, which is to say she was born into a family of politicos and lived in the White House--neither of which would necessarily f …
Free light rail rides on downtown's above ground section could be derailed thanks to the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority's budget mess. That is the news coming out of a Buffalo Place meeting this morning. Facing a budget shortfall and reduced State operating assistance, the NFTA is scrambling for new revenue sources and is contemplating charging for rides along the lengthy downtown pedestrian mall.

I think that you should make it a habit of ALWAYS listing the address of the places you're talking about.

looks nice...but... I think they should call this WJ Morrissey Authentic Irish Pub and every menu item should start with the word authentic

I'm hungry. Make them open up now.
$7 to $10 for a meal and a side is cheap. I seen the building, looks nice. I wish them luck. I'll be checking it out in the near future.
Although I never much trusted the irish. ;)

Hopefully they do it right, don’t care much for the trad sessions, but would defiantly be there if they show MLS, EPL or any of the other major leagues. The menu reminds me a lot of Molly Brannigans in Erie, PA, but I am interested to see the drink menu.
