Movie Night on Elmwood Returns
If you happened to miss the first two, then be sure to make the next two. Friday night movie nights that is. Cinema Sotto le Stelle, the city's favorite Italian outdoor movie series, has been postponed for one summer, and in its place a series of silents and oldies has filled in. Cinema rolls every Friday in July at the Unitarian-Universalist Church's side lawn (next to M&T Bank-Elmwood and West Ferry). There, movie-goers can unroll a blanket and break out a picnic basket while enjoying the two remaining picks.
The movie schedule can be found on BuffaloResearch.com, and the group's final two selections are: This Friday guests will be treated to a Charlie Chaplin Film Festival (1917). There will be four shorts shown that evening. The following week's selection will feature the film Duke is Tops (1938) starring Cab Calloway and debuting Lena Horne (July 27th).
As a special bonus, screenings will showcase rarely seen, short, made-in-Buffalo documentaries before each film. The movies generally begin at 9:30, but make sure that you get there early to snag a good spot and catch the pre-show. Sponsored by the Unitarian-Universalist Church.

My Favorite Buildings
This house on Richmond Avenue is very unusual for Buffalo. It stands out among its wooden neighbors not only in material but also in detail and form. Buffalo is overwhelmingly constructed of wood with brick coming in a distant second as a material. Stone houses are very rare. Also rare is the Palazzo styling and shape of this house. The Wait is Almost Over - BR's New Site
As we mentioned in our previous post, we’re in the process of changing the Buffalo Rising site. We’re almost there as we expect to launch the new site on Friday, December 19th.
