News About The Queen City Football Club

The Queen City Football Club (QCFC) is getting ready to start its soccer season on May 4th with their first match. It is a Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Region I match and the Blues will face some stiff competition from last year’s Region I winner, Danbury United from Connecticut.
The QCFC also has some exciting news this year. This will be their first season playing at All-High Stadium. Last year the team was stuck playing in Johnnie B. Wiley field while they waited for renovations at the stadium to be completed. This is the first year the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) team will have its own home field.
According to Ryan Knapp, head of public relations for the QCFC, “We’re in the process of getting a women’s division together.” Knapp says that the QCFC is busy laying down the groundwork needed to get the new division, dubbed the Lady Blues, into the Women’s Premier Soccer League. Also, according to Knapp they are still looking for a coach for the Lady Blues, but the new team could start playing as early as next year.

As we mentioned in our previous post, we’re in the process of changing the Buffalo Rising site. We’re almost there as we expect to launch the new site on Friday, December 19th.
In the meantime, posting will be light as we log new stories in the new publishing system which will only be viewable when we launch on Friday.
As always, we appreciate our users’ patience as we make this transition but we promise it will be well worth it. With faster load times, a comment view …

As an old - and I do mean old - high school soccer player, I wish the QCFC great success.

Make sure to come out and see some of our games. Check out the webpage that bc71 posted above.
Also, it's only SOCCER here in the states. The Term 'Soccer' actually comes from a slang term used for Association Football, which 'soccer' was called in England to distinguish it between other types of football, like rugby for instance.
It's simply a dialectal difference. Or a variety difference, at that.

And yet Buffalo still has no Major League Foosball. 'Second Tier' forever, it seems...

Go Blues - Queen City is a perfect example of guys going after their dream, owning a football team (soccer for you americans). The guys at QCFC have done a fantastic job building their own simi-professional team from the ground up. Wait until you fans see the stadium, one of the best in all of New York State aside from professional ones.

I hope we'll see MLS in Rochester sooner rather than later. Paychex Field is beautiful and the passion for the Rhinos there is something else. Count me in to heading to Ra-cha-cha if they do land a franchise. MLS wants to expand and Rochester is a soccer hotbed in the region. Here's to hoping!

Sean - I heard the Rhinos are in trouble financially and can not even afford to finish the stadium, the players still dress in trailors. Only the furture will tell..We should support QCFC since they are Buffalo's home team.

Well the Rhino's have new ownership so they are fine now. They've gotten rid of the trailers and are getting the money to complete the stadium now with the new group in place. So I'm glad they are doing well. We on the other hand are Buffalo's team and so why wouldn't you want to support Buffalo's team? True Rochester plays a division above us, but that's just like supporting man utd and when you live in another town. You can still support Man Utd, but you should be supporting your local team and trying to help the boys in the local side get up to higher levels.
We have a fantastic group of guys this year. The group we had last year really gelled as a team and led to our successes. This year we have a much better technically built team and if they can gell, we should be playing for a national title again and have a chance at winning it in our home stadium (the Northeast Region winner hosts the national finals this year!).
Thanks again for everyone's support thus far. It really means a lot to us, that this silly idea we had a couple years ago has blossomed like this.

The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is one of the treasures in American sports...it's too bad sports fans aren't more aware of it. Queen City has a tough draw in the first qualifying match, but if they can get past Danbury United, they have a really good chance of getting into the tournament. Who knows...maybe we could see Queen City matched up with an MLS team in the later rounds?

We just had a scrimmage this morning and won 2-0 to Club Italia from St. Catherines. I'll post the link to the game recap later on.
Make sure to come out and see us next SUNDAY MAY 4th at 2:00PM ALL HIGH STADIUM!!
The stadium is AMAZING. Players enter at midfield, brand new turf, scoreboard, the roof on the stand keeps all the noise in.
Now all we need is YOU!!!!! Get out to the game and support the local boys!!!

Queen City FC (Futbol Club) is a classy name for the team. "FC" is a time honored traditional name for a soccer team. Sure the game is often referred to as soccer, but the city is often referred to by Americans as "Buffalo". Would you prefer the team be called "Buffalo Soccer Team"? I'll be there Sunday May 4, with bells on. GO BLUE You'll never walk alone!
