Paint The Town Auction

If you love art and you love the city of Buffalo, then there is one event that you must attend. It's called the Paint the Town Auction and it's held at the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society's Pan-American Building every year. This year is the ninth annual auction where local 50 artists are given just six hours to come up with a work of art. The subject matter is, of course, Buffalo... and each artist is given a one-week window in which to complete the six-hour task. This is no easy fete because the auction has turned into a very prominent event where the artists are subjected to a very unusual timeframe.
The event is very competitive, but it's also a lot of fun for both the artists and the guests. Each original work of art is framed by the artist, and visitors will have the opportunity of bidding on different pieces while enjoying food stations from Oliver's Restaurant. The live auction will take place September 9th, and proceeds will benefit the BECHS.
*From 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. guests may visit the food stations and view the works on display. The live auction will follow from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m., led by auctioneer Steve Phillips of the Lodge Auction House. Paint the Town is open to the general public and tickets are available in advance for $65 or may be purchased at the door for $80. For more information or to purchase tickets, the public may call (716) 873-9644 ext. 316.

As we mentioned in our previous post, we’re in the process of changing the Buffalo Rising site. We’re almost there as we expect to launch the new site on Friday, December 19th.
In the meantime, posting will be light as we log new stories in the new publishing system which will only be viewable when we launch on Friday.
As always, we appreciate our users’ patience as we make this transition but we promise it will be well worth it. With faster load times, a comment view …
