Pennsylvania Stoners In Our House This Saturday

Queen City FC begin the defense of their 2007 NPSL Eastern Conference Championship as they welcome Pennsylvania Stoners to All-High Stadium (2885 Main Street, behind Bennett High School) on Saturday, May 24th.
We are Buffalo’s own soccer franchise and need everyone’s help to grow and prosper. In the end, we are all in this together. The more people that come out and support Queen City, the more we are able to expand and possibly do some great things for the city of Buffalo (more on that to come later).
The game this weekend is an all-day event. We will be beginning with pre-game $2 pints of Flying Bison at Broadway Joes (3051 Main Street, Buffalo NY 14214) which is just a 2 minute walk from the stadium. Last game, people were tailgating and playing footie outside of the stadium in the parking lot, and according to members of the O-Block, our supporters club, they will be repeating that fact this weekend.
The action starts at 4:30pm, when Queen City FC Reserve Squad take on Winstar Soccer Academy, a very tough side from Canada. After the completion of that game, Queen City FC first squad will open their NPSL season against the Pennsylvania Stoners (see here for match preview). Kickoff for that game will be at 7:00pm.
After the game there will be a post-game party again at Broadway Joes with more $2 pints of Flying Bison.
Come out and support a local Buffalo team. Over half of the players on our team are born and raised at least in WNY and have ties to the local community. Our goal is to grow, but we need the help of everyone here to do so.
If you are a die hard soccer fan, or just a newbie to the game, make Queen City FC your team. There are opportunities available to volunteer for the club and get involved. If you are a solid player, you could get a tryout, if you want to learn how the club works, you can work with us and help make the club run, or just come out and yell, loud.
We’ve got tailgating, $2 pints, chanting (yes, lots and lots of chanting, complete with flyers that everyone will have with chants on them) and a fantastic stadium that makes the Rochester Rhinos blush. There is no reason why we can’t grow and be the most supported team in the NPSL.
Tickets for all the Queen City FC matches are $2 with College ID, $5 General Admission and $7 preferred seating. You won’t get into a soccer match for less than that anywhere else.
To get more information on the club, visit our forums at (http://queencityfc.freeforums.org) or the Queen City FC official website (www.queencityfc.com). You can also email rknapp@queencityfc.com.

As we mentioned in our previous post, we’re in the process of changing the Buffalo Rising site. We’re almost there as we expect to launch the new site on Friday, December 19th.
In the meantime, posting will be light as we log new stories in the new publishing system which will only be viewable when we launch on Friday.
As always, we appreciate our users’ patience as we make this transition but we promise it will be well worth it. With faster load times, a comment view …

I can't wait to see the team this year! What a great venue for the game, just drove by All High yesterday, a far cry from my track days there. I really hope that this starts to attract more people to the game.
