Strawbale Building Raising

Growing Green with MAP
Massachusetts Avenue Project in conjunction with Natural Building Systems/UB School of Architecture and Planning are building the city's first-ever strawbale structure, and you're invited to help.
Join them for a unique opportunity to observe and participate in the building of a strawbale construction greenhouse structure that will benefit Massachusetts Avenue Project’s Growing Green program.
This requires no building experience! Dress in work clothes, with gloves and eye protection. Bring water bottles and a boxed lunch or potluck. And to make the work go faster, musicians are welcome!
Natural Building Systems, a design/build seminar course at UB, has been working with MAP (and Street Synergy Community Association) since January 2006. Its goal is to provide hands-on service learning for architecture students, and to effect change and community revitalization by supporting the work of existing nonprofit organizations involved with urban ecology and sustainable practices.
Bale on Bale Construction is a Buffalo company that specializes in Natural Building, especially strawbale construction. Buffalo resident and Bale on Bale head, Dave Lanfear, has participated in dozens of Natural Building projects throughout the Midwest and Northeast United States.
