Test Run For Euro Car Classic

Test Run For Euro Car Classic

Story Options

On Wednesday, September 17th from 5:30pm to 8:00pm, Elmwood Village merchants along with The Elmwood Association will host a unique Euro Car Classic. With the support of regional European Car Clubs, both sides of Elmwood Avenue between Bryant Street and West Utica Street will be lined with some serious foreign rides. At the same time, the surrounding merchants will offer sales, dining and live music. From Dan Leonard at the Elmwood Association:

"This actually came from the merchants - started by Lou at Lu Modern. This is all about people coming down to Elmwood, milling about and walking into the shops. This should be a cool element on that block - like branding the block as a bit more upscale. It's going to be a wide range of cars. Probably some vintage Mercedes and modern cars as well. I would imagine that there would be plenty of vintage luxury cars and sports cars. Our biggest goal is to see how feasible this type of event will be for Elmwood. The street will be open to traffic, but we're going to disallow parking for that time period. Next year we would like to turn this into a monthly or bi-weekly event. We will explore different themes. If this proves to be successful we intend to grow the idea."

That's funny Jas. It's not, but part of the reason that I used the image was due to the similarity.

So, are they looking for people to just show up in their interesting European rides? I could bring down one of vintage Vespas. BTW - Those look to be Japanese made Lexus's (Lexi?) to me.

Lu Modern is carrying that block. That store is always trying to make the block a better place. I hope it's there for a long time to come. We need to make sure to support events like this and stores like Lu who are fighting to make our city a vibrant and liveable community.

I know. :-) Just discovered I'm in Chicago on business next week, but trying to get my friend to bring down my Baur, if she agrees, I will call to register it. Super bummed I will miss this, I'm a German car/motorcycle/scooter/moped freak.
