Avalon Copy Centers Coming To Buffalo
While stopping into Chow Chocolate earlier today to check out their operation, I ran into Chris Jacobs, owner of Avalon Development. Chris was very excited about the opening of Chow Chocolate in his building and was also pleased to tell me that he had just landed a new tenant for his 723 Main Street project. 4000 sq.' of the 5500 sq.' building will be occupied by a company by the name of Avalon Copy Centers. This will be Avalon Copy's first location in Buffalo - the company already has locations in Syracuse, Rochester and Utica. The company specializes in business document services, legal copy services, large format copies, document imaging, electronic discovery and appellate publishing.
This is a pretty big snag for Jacobs considering the large square footage of the occupancy. Once the center has moved in, there will only be 1500 sq.' of remaining space in the building that is currently undergoing a complete facade makeover. Jacobs told me that he open to either a restaurant or retail tenant in the remaining space. The 700 block is certainly coming together quickly. It will be interesting to see what happens with the former Rick Cycle location. If some money were sunk into the space it would probably have a much better shot at securing a tenant. I think that Chris Jacobs has proven that an injection of capital into a property can attract new business to Main Street. It might behoove other property owners to do the same thing.
