Would you eat lunch or dinner at the Harbour Club?

The Harbour Club at the HSBC Arena faces the Buffalo River. The Metro Rail cars run right past on their way to the DL&W Terminal. Unfortunately, the restaurant is only open during Sabres’ games and special events. I am sure that plans are to someday extend the hours… but when? This is a wonderful opportunity for the Buffalo Waterfront that could be operational relatively easily.
The other day we talked about the possibilities while sailing by on a 7 Seas’ sailboat. The sun was streaming through the windows and we gazed on wondering why such an opportunity was not being taken advantage of. Word is that it might still be part of the plan someday… someday. Already, there tons of people who come down to visit the Erie Basin Marina. There are others who own condos along the waterfront. And still others who ride the Metro Rail (ridership is up). Plus, I think that there are 'a few' available lots surrounding the business for easy parking. I would think that there would be a host of restaurateurs who would leap at this sort of opportunity.

As we mentioned in our previous post, we’re in the process of changing the Buffalo Rising site. We’re almost there as we expect to launch the new site on Friday, December 19th.
In the meantime, posting will be light as we log new stories in the new publishing system which will only be viewable when we launch on Friday.
As always, we appreciate our users’ patience as we make this transition but we promise it will be well worth it. With faster load times, a comment view …
Caroline Kennedy was in town for a visit with our mayor yesterday. A possible choice to succeed US Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Kennedy's name has been mentioned along with that of Attorney General Andrew Cuomo (son of former New York Governor Mario Cuomo) and our own Byron Brown, among others.
Certainly, Kennedy has "been around politics" all of her life, which is to say she was born into a family of politicos and lived in the White House--neither of which would necessarily f …
Free light rail rides on downtown's above ground section could be derailed thanks to the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority's budget mess. That is the news coming out of a Buffalo Place meeting this morning. Facing a budget shortfall and reduced State operating assistance, the NFTA is scrambling for new revenue sources and is contemplating charging for rides along the lengthy downtown pedestrian mall.

c;mon gaustad-- te best day in the office doesn't compare with the worst day on a boat, even if uit is an ugly tug boat. Besides, Popeye might be on there, spinach in hand.
Newell- great idea! My office are four minutes away as are BRO's-- let's start lunch there!

We went to HSBC to see the Delirium, intending to eat before the show, after much confusion were told the Harbor Cafe was open, -- it wasn't. The gate keeper was uninformed to say the least, his supervisor needing courtesy lessons also. Our party of four usually spends about $35.00 a person, not a bad day even if you had only fifty customers to serve. Our impression was that promoting the cafe wasn't a priority.

I think the space is currently used for meetings/presentations/etc and such during the week. The Buffalo Rotary Club meets there on Thursdays for lunch. I was there for an awards luncheon 2 weeks ago. I'm not sure who does their catering, but the food was great.
It's an awesome space. You can really get a feel for how the inner harbor project will be laid out from there as well.
