Yappy Hour in the City

There are so many things that small businesses bring to a neighborhood. Quality of life is one of those things. And when that quality touches people and their pets, then magical things can happen. Take last evenings Yappy Hour. While thousands of people were celebrating a Sabres' victory, some people and their pets gathered at Animal Outfitters to celebrate the store's first Happy Hour dedicated to our four-legged friends.
It was a "celebration of city dogs and the people who love them". The Happy Hour hosts, Omar and Susana, even procured (from Premier Gourmet) bottles of wines (for the two-legged gatherers) from Dog House Wineries and Chateau La Paws. The celebration attracted thirty people and fourteen dogs. "We knew that we were competing with so many other events," said Omar. "I think the doggy bakery trays were a big draw... people were so excited to bring their dogs to a function. We want to have these once a month. We're all about bringing people closer together to their pets and other owners. That's why we're sponsoring events like Run for Rover - to create places (dog park) that are pet friendly."
Animal Outfitters is located at 264 Bryant Street. 716-884-2420

Certainly, Kennedy has "been around politics" all of her life, which is to say she was born into a family of politicos and lived in the White House--neither of which would necessarily f …
Free light rail rides on downtown's above ground section could be derailed thanks to the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority's budget mess. That is the news coming out of a Buffalo Place meeting this morning. Facing a budget shortfall and reduced State operating assistance, the NFTA is scrambling for new revenue sources and is contemplating charging for rides along the lengthy downtown pedestrian mall.

I can't say enough about how wonderful Omar and Susanna are. Their love for animals of all sizes is evident in all that they are willing to do for their 4-legged customers. So sorry we missed the first Yappy Hour!!
